The copy-text is Bush’s 2005 address [=A], a video presentation of the speech from January 20, 2005. This selection was based on the plausible efficacy of the delivered speech on the steps of the Capitol Building and the large number of viewers of the speech both on live television and radio and subsequently in various venues. Applause lines have been removed from the copy-text.
The other version [=B] represents the written transcript of the speech offered by the Bush administration. This version is followed for paragraphing, spelling, capitalization, and punctuation.
