The copy-text is Edwards [1741], a publication likely submitted by the author and printed in Boston, Massachusetts later in the same year that he delivered his sermon at Enfield. This selection was based on its proximity to the original speech and the likelihood that points of emphasis are the author’s own. Capitalization of nouns has been modernized, except where such capitalization seems to indicate a particular emphasis in the text. The long s has been replaced with the modern form. Minor typesetting-related spacing errors between words and punctuation have been corrected where they do not change the meaning of the text, and hyphens used to break words, at the end of lines, in the original, have been deleted. Except where specified in notes, the copy-text is followed for all other paragraphing, spelling, and punctuation

The following are the textual notes provided by the editor. The location of these notes are indicated by paragraph number and the preceding few words.
